An interactive museum that showcases the history of ancient towns in the country and answers all your pressing equator-related science queries.
Is it possible to balance an egg on a nail? Does water really change direction in different hemispheres?
Intiñán or Camino del Sol is a small museum 200 meters from the equatorial monument of Mitad del Mundo, an unique interpretation center of ethnographic, cosmological and astronomical interest. The Equator apparently crosses the place more accurately than at the actual Mitad del Mundo monument (GPS instruments mark 00º 00 ’02 “N). The museum presents the early photos of the cosmographic projection of equinoxes and solstices and presents information on the customs and way of life of the natives who inhabited the region before Spanish arrival. Take part in a number of of fun experiments to reveal some of the phenomena that take place when one stands at the equator
