An enormous place to set out an explore, with camping sites, spectacular viewpoints, children’s games and trails to birdwatch, mountain bike and trek.
The largest green expanse of the city proper, and quite popular for it, Parque Metropolitano climbs out to the eastern edge of Quito offering awe-inspiring views of the Cumbayá Valley. It is composed of four central areas: the parking and playgrounds; the eucalyptus forest; a treeless area with a few large-scale sculpture installations; and the picnic areas. Visitors enjoy its many hiking and cycling trails, home of the dapper Crimson-mantled Woodpecker and other birds.
